About Us

MidCountry Insurance has a rich legacy that began in the 1950s when it was founded as Insurance Planners by two independent agents in Hutchinson, Minnesota. The agency was dedicated to providing local families and businesses with personalized insurance solutions, quickly earning a reputation for its customer-first approach and its deep connection to the community.

A significant turning point came in 2016, when the agency rebranded from Insurance Planners to MidCountry Insurance. This change reflected the growing relationship between the insurance agency and MidCountry Bank, while also marking an expansion into the bank’s 13 branches across the region. Despite the broader reach, the agency’s main office remained in Hutchinson, maintaining its local presence and commitment to the community.

Then, in 2024, MidCountry Insurance took another bold step in its evolution by transitioning into an independent, stand-alone agency, moving out from under the control of MidCountry Bank. This strategic decision allowed the agency to operate with greater flexibility and autonomy, while continuing to focus on delivering the exceptional service and custom solutions that have defined its history.

On January 1, 2025, MidCountry Insurance merged with First State Agency of Sauk Centre, one of Sauk Centre’s oldest and most trusted businesses. Established in 1901, First State Agency provided exceptional service to the surrounding community by lending its knowledge and expertise to help each client with his or her own unique needs.
